Description: NF, 285 pp.; Modern Library Random House 1952 copyright ; Anne Frank kept a diary while in hiding from the Nazis during WWII in Amsterdam. Her diary has been translated into over seventy different languages and is one of the most read books of the twentieth century. Anne was given the diary as a birthday present and wrote in it during the two years she was hiding with her family (1942-1944) behind a bookcase in the building where her father Otto worked. The Gestapo discovered and arrested the Frank family on August 4, 1944. On Nov. 1, 1944 Anne and her sister Margot were transferred from Auschwitz to Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. Anne died there on March 30 1945 at the age of 15 years. This edition is bound in blue cloth with logo, title, author, and Modern Library highlighted in silver on spine; pages discolored with age due to reduced paper quality used during war years WWII and Korea. Annelies Marie Frank was born on June 12, 1929 in Frankfurt, Germany and died at Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, Germany on March 30, 1945.
