This was taken along Route 40 and the Lincoln Highway in the town of Dixon California just west of the town of Davis California.  The Lincoln Highway begins at Times Square in NYC and ends at the Legion of Honor Museum in Lincoln Park San Francisco.  It is the oldest cross country road in the USA and becomes the main streets in countless towns along the way. 
 
Main Street Roseville, Davis, Vacaville, and Fairfield are all along Route 40.  Also the California Capitol Building and Capitol Mall in Sacramento is also on Route 40. A young Dwight D Eisenhower traveled the road and his journey on it helped inspire him to lead the effort to build brand new roads all across the United States.  The Eisenhower Interstate System as it is known is one of America's greatest infrustructure achievements. 
 
Interstate 80 follows the older route of the Lincoln Highway which was a road that followed an earlier route of the Transcontinental Railroad. 
 
The first spike of that railroad was nailed along the route of Route 40 in the town of Sacramento California in 1863. The Railroad act became law on July 1, 1862. 
 
Sacramento is also one of the few places in the United States that features an Interstate Intersection of two major interstates.  Interstate 80 connects the East and West Coasts and Interstate 5 connects the USA to both Mexico and Canada. I could be wrong but I do believe that is unique and specific only to the city of Sacramento California.
