She wrote twelve more novels over her writing career; The Candle's Glory (1953) was her last novel. She was born in Scotland in 1902; she attended Somerville College Oxford; she married Peter Luling and they had three daughters; Sylvia Thompson died in at 65 years of age in 1968 at Reigate Heath, Surry England.
