A Chat GPT Dylan Story
My job as an artist by definition is to "put things together" essentially if you use your hands to create something it means you are an artist, or doing some art, or creating art. The root of the word ART is Indo-European ar meaning "Put things Together" and the English word ART comes from old French art which means skill. Words like Artisan, Article, Artificial, Arm derive from the root that creates the word ART.
The following story is created in part by me a guy named Dylan using his hands to type into an Artificial intelligence program CHAT GPT. Here are the three steps I took to create the story.
1. I asked the program to create 20 fictional characters with backstories and names, 10 male and 10 female.
2. I then picked 2 names and asked it to write a love story.
3. I then asked the program to rewrite the story once, and then to rewrite that story. I then copied and pasted the parts of each story together to put together a story.
After reading the story you can look at the screenshots of the names to see that I did not create this story from my mind. But I simplistically asked an Artificial Intelligence program to become a creative writer. The basic process described above is a basic writing process writers have for pretty much everything. First: come up with an idea. 2. Write a first draft 3. Rewrite and Rewrite until you get what you like.
I have not edited a single word in the story below, but did move around some paragraphs, it essentially is not at all an original story.
But it is a Dylan Story on a blog post on a website by a guy who created the website who also is named Dylan. So I feel like this is an Arts by Dylan Art moment. a.k.a by some in an older generation "A Dylan Moment" because of Bob Dylan.
As he famously wrote in a lyric.... "The times they are changing".
Chat GPT and Artificial Intelligence is a catalyst for change much like the art of Bob Dylan.
