Description: VF, 375 pp. romance; rare antique book over 100 years old; first published in 1891; this copyright 1897 editon is in mint condition containing many uncut pages; it is illustrated with seven photographs from a New York theatrical stage production of The Little Minister "By Courtesy of Byron, N.Y.". A photograph of Babbie the well born Lady pretending to be a gypsy who falls in love with the local minister Gavin Dishart appears in an oval wrapped in gold on the green cloth cover. A very fine copy of an old Scottish love story from the 1890's made into plays and movies. The most famous Hollywood movie of The Little Minister was released in 1934. It was directed by Richard Wallace starring Katherine Hepburn as Babbie and John Beal as Minister Gavin Dishart.; on the front free endpaper is the inscription "Merry Christmas 1906 To Mother from Nellie and Percy". Sir James Mathew Barrie was a Scottish novelist and playwright best known for his novel Peter Pan.
